As a DJ and Producer, Steve Porter is at the top of his game. With a non-stop international touring schedule, prolific productions and inimitable DJ style, Porter is setting the bar high for the next generation of electronic dance music artists. His latest, 'The Control EP' is the prelude to his upcoming, second full length artist album due out in late Spring 2009. This Winter Music Conference, Porter will join forces with Funkagenda as part of the AM Only DJ pairings at Karu & Y, on Friday, March 27th. Following that, Porter will helm his annual PH recordings showcase with a stable of special guests, including DJ Dan and label artists at B.E.D. Miami on Saturday, March 28th.

Favorite non-clubbing pastime in Miami:
Admiring the foot traffic on Washington.

Favorite Miami restaurant:
Big Pink.

Big Pink
Wackiest WMC memory:
Being driven in a limo in the wrong direction for like 45 minutes enroute to the Club World Awards. So it took me approximately 90 minutes to get there, almost missing my cue to present an award!

Artist(s) you are most looking forward to seeing perform this year in Miami:
I'm stoked for DJ Dan at the PH Recordings party, also amped about playing with Funkagenda at the Am Only gig, and looking forward to checking out Drop The Lime, Diplo, and A-Trak at the Bacardi B Live party at the Fountainbleu.

Obsolete item you can't part with:
My 40 dollar Nokia replacement phone, it has absolutely no features and doesn't work overseas. But after years of countless lost PDA's and thousands of dollars of roaming abuse, that's the beauty in it.

Essential travel item:
A pen. It's crucial if you wanna fly thru foreign immigrations.

Most prized possession:
My indoor mini basketball hoop, it's like a nerf hoop on steroids.

Best recent gift:
A new Xbox 360 Elite after my old one broke, I didn't realize how much I missed it until it was gone.

Biggest indulgence:
Quaker Chewy chocolate chip granola bars.

Next big purchase:
Web cams for the new studios, I wanna invite people into the sessions.

Most cherished record:
A mint condition Elvis Presley album.

no squishy foods like octopus
Most unusual item on your rider:
My rider is really skimpy and hasn't been updated since 2001, I'm really easy going, but back then I didn't really eat seafood so my rider says "Eats pretty much anything but no squishy foods like octopus".

Craziest recent club sighting:
The actor Jason Statham from the Transporter series giving me high fives while I was djing a party in Vancouver.

Most played item on your iPod:
Best of New Wave, Missing Persons, Berlin etc. I'm a total sucker for it.

Personal hero:
My mom and dad.

Earliest musical memory:
Singing "Another One Bites The Dust" when I was 2.

Secret hobby:
I'm pimping out a 1991 upright arcade console by installing 1,200 games in it, Donkey Kong, Pac Man, Street Fighter, you name it. Totally geeky, maybe I need to grow up.

Fictional character you identify with:
Tom Hanks in the movie BIG.

New for you in 2009:
I'm back in the saddle studio wise, I have my second artist album coming out in the Spring which I'm excited for. It's been long over due I think after a series of DJ mix compilations, the album is a departure from "Homegrown" in that it has quite a bit of vocal content. The music is pretty edgy and varied, still dance-floor centric, it's a new version of me which I'm excited to get out there.
