Damian Lazarus delivers a sound that can be described as dirty & deep, electro house; a rebel sound designed for lovers of late night madness, future dance floor classics and cutting edge new ideas. His DJ style combines upfront, twisted music, with a touch of attitude, designed for good time party heads. Damian is also an accomplished producer, as well as the head of the influential label Crosstown Rebels. His recent debut artist album Smoke The Monster Out was met with critical acclaim and is set to release its third single “Diamond in the Dark”. Now, Damian has put together The Rebel Rave Tour which is set to invade Pacha NYC on Friday, February 12, 2010. As the mastermind of the tour he states, "The Rebel Rave tour is a great opportunity for all the Rebel family to gather together for awesome parties at some of the best clubs in the world. We bring a special sense of fun to the dancefloor, our combined sound is second to none and our followers across America know to expect the unexpected. Get ready to Rave". The tour brings Damian to New York City along with Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler, and the debut live perfromance from Deniz Kurtel.
How did you go about assembling the line up for the Rebel Rave tour?
We have a fantastic family of artists right now and so it was pretty simple to put the team together. In a bigger world of cutting edge underground music I would have liked to have included 3 or 4 other acts but time and space can be limiting. The combination of Jones, Troxler, Kurtel and myself is a pretty firing sound and personality-wise, it's just plain stupid!
This is probably the biggest Crosstown Rebels tour to date. What do you hope to get out of this tour?
An ever building army of like-minded people understanding that we bring something fresh to the dancefloor and to their lives.
What criteria makes for a good Rebel Raver?
Open-mindedness, attention to detail, ability to to say Fuck You to all that is considered good in the pursuit of excellence.
What does the Crosstown Rebels label have in store for 2010?
Albums by Glimpse, Deniz Kurtel and Maceo Plex, singles by Jamie Jones, Freaks, Rob Mello and Laurent Garnier and a label compilation, cannily named Rebel Rave. We will also be launching our TV series, Rebel Rave on the ARC channel of Comcast, bringing the sound and the style directly into over 17million US homes.
You're celebrating the 5th anniversary for the Get Lost parties at WMC? Do these parties have a different aesthetic than the Rebel Rave tour dates?
Not really, although maybe there is a little more all-out madness but we hope there will be the same abundance of joy.
Crosstownrebel's Get Lost 5th Anniversary will be held March 27th early morning 5am-7pm @ Electric Pickle during Winter Music Conference 2010.
