skipped todays show.
one day of laying in that heat and watching old white guys try to dance was more than enough for me.

when lasix gets back, he will upload our baked highlight of the trip to youtube and share....

the beastie boys were awesome.
incubus was great too.

the police...well...they pretty much sucked.
my theory on why they broke up was beacuase the guitarist is horrible and sting is just light years ahead of him musically.
luckily sting was enough to carry that show and make it worth watching, but there seemed to be points in every song where that guitar player made me cringe.

also, someone needs to tell danny tenaglia to just play the good music and STFU. that dude was on the mic wayyyyyyyyyyy too much. he said something like...this year they only gave me a gig in the tent, sorry guys...maybe next year i'll be on the main stage. what a fucking tool. maybe he'll get on the main stage when he joins a fucking band.

overall, it was interesting

we just got home....

had a fun time down there with the crew.

Heard some good music down there. LCD Soundsystem was great on the South stage, had great energy and had the crowd into it.

I'm sorry, but the Police did NOT suck. Andy Summers def got a bit fat and old compared to his bandmates (no tantric sex for him apparently), but they sounded great. Stewart Copeland is one of the best drummers in the business, and he's just as great as he's always been. Sting sounded good as well, voice was strong, but sounded tired by the end. Andy was off the mark a bit, but i wouldn't call him bad. their set was def a highlight for us.

We heard Regina Spektor this morning, and I thought she was awesome. Just her and her piano (and guitar on a few songs), and she was completely mesmerizing. loved her.

Saw Spoon as well, who i really wanted to see, but they were pretty underwhelming imo.

We were in and out of the dance tent yesterday and today. I was more interested in hearing some of the bands play tho. heard some not-so-great stuff too, incubus, etc, but i'll keep this review positive.

wow that was fun. the police most definitely did not suck. i wasn't expecting much based on the reviews from their other shows, but they delivered.

what was tenaglia's deal? i've never seen him clown around that much...

holy shit was it hot on saturday. sweltering hot.

I was suprised by the Police in the fact that they were just mellow as they have gotten older - every single song was slower than normal like "Don't Stand So Close To Me" was at the tempo of a ballad...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

had a great time all day though.

I saw way too many f'd up people - some 3 people who were one something that gave them fits of rage or something. What the hell kind of pills or whatever are these younger kids taking??

i thought they were completely wasted. but then in between songs, they'd take their sunglasses off an they looked fine. completely normal. not even drunk. then the music would come back on and it was like flipping a switch.

i've never seen someone shred the air guitar so seriously before....

Just got back home. Only went on Sunday thank god and everyone kept saying how hot Saturday was and I thought the lineups sucked anyway.

Sunday was perfect.

Andy C once again proves he is far and away the best DJ on the planet, there's really no comparison to what he does. Not only does he set pretty much every track up for a spectacular rewind but when he plays it again he already has planned out what he's going to do... It's like listening to something different every 3 minutes but it's always consistently perfect.

Dieselboy did his best to hold his own and didn't dissapoint. DnB fucking owned that tent and left it a sweaty nasty mess around 3:30...

There was so much ass there it wasn't even funny. It's amayzing how once you leave NY people are so much nicer, especailly at parties. Girls wanted to hang out, good drugs everywhere, big cold beers and plenty of support staff to make sure things went smoothly.

No guidos. And no one who seemed particularly rich or snobbish. The $97 ticket kept the riff-raff away too meaning people who were there all were into music one way or another.

Richard Branson was walking around and talking amongst all the people early in the day. That was kinda cool.

We drove back all day constantly talking about everything that went on and wishing we could go back. The weather turned around 5:00pm with a perfectly light rain and cooled everyone off... Almost got a little chilly.

Can't wait for next year.

Saturdays line-up sucked????? Really? You think the Beastie Boys suck? The police? LCD? Funny how people have completely different tastes because I thought Sundays line-up sucked which is why I did not stick around.

Seen the Beasties and S&D a million times.

Used to love Incubus but it seems like they haven't put anything new/relevant out in years.

Miguel Migs, Amy Whinehouse, Danny Tenaglia =

I'll def take the Smashing Pumpkins over the Police, much more my era.

I admit, Fountains of Wayne would have been great to see but oh well.

You're right, different tastes make music great.

what a brilliant festival. most of the acts brought their A-game.

highlights for me were,

the police (it was just nice to be there)

velvet revolver (blew me away)

bookashade (had the dance tent jumping up and done at 2pm)

felix da housecat was good stuff.

311 was fucking amazing

matisyahu was awesome (matisyahu did a cameo with 311 during love song)

wu tang clan played very well, lots of energy.

smashing pumpkins was awesome because i wasn't expecting to see darcy on stage.

lots of quality, most of all i enjoyed seeing some of my friends who i almost never get to hang out with

bethany
noiseboy
tam
mike and jenn

virginfest is a must. nothing beats coachella though..hehe

Interpol, Andy C & Dieselboy, and Sander Van Doorn were incredible!!!

Smashing Pumpkins, LCD Soundsystem, Girl Talk, Sasha & Digweed, Beastie Boys, Felix DaHousecat, Wu Tang Clan, Matisyahu and Regina Spektor were great.

Explosions in the Sky, Tenaglia, Amy Winehouse, Zabiela, Cheap Trick, and Modest Mouse were good.

Saw 3 songs each of Yeah Yeah Yeahs and TV on the Radio and really enjoyed both performances.

The Police and Bad Brains were pretty bad. Sting's voice sounded good, but it sounded like The Police covering The Police. We only stayed for four songs though...it might have got better, it just didn't work for us. It was like cabaret versions of their songs. Thank god SVD was ripping up the dance tent! We danced til the bitter end.

Overall Hilights:

MC Messinian (with Dieselboy) was nuts! Finally seeing the Wu Tang Clan and hearing Protect Ya Neck live, dancing like a madman to LCD, Hearing Cheap Trick Surrender live, SVD (again), the Pumpkins playing 'Starla' and 'Zero' and destroying with both, the insane party that GirlTalk's set turned into, and practically having a religious experience during Interpol in the rain.

And seeing all you crazy kids. Oh man...

Really dug her, especially Fidelity and Us. She reminds me of Tori Amos, quirky and cute. 1st thing i did when i got back to nyc was buy her cd.
